Obsession

Obsession

An obsession is an unwanted, anxious, and distressing thought that keeps coming to mind even when you don't want it to. These intrusive thoughts can cause significant anxiety and discomfort.

Details

Obsessions are repetitive, unwanted, and intrusive thoughts, urges, or images.

These thoughts keep arising even when you don't want them to, causing significant anxiety and distress. You might worry, 'Does having these thoughts make me a bad person?' — but having obsessive thoughts does not mean you are a bad person.

Obsessions tend to grow stronger the more you try to control them. Practicing noticing them without reacting is an important step — and Mindy can help you build that skill.

💡 Real-Life Example

'A thought about getting infected by germs keeps coming to mind over and over' — that is an obsession.
