What the 16 personality types test measures
The test looks at four pairs of preferences. Your leaning on each pair becomes one letter, and the four letters together make one of 16 personality types (2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 16).
E / I — Extraversion or Introversion
Where you draw your energy from: people, activity and the outside world, or quiet time, reflection and your inner world.
S / N — Sensing or Intuition
How you take in information: concrete facts and present experience, or patterns, possibilities and the bigger picture.
T / F — Thinking or Feeling
How you make decisions: logic, consistency and objective criteria, or values, empathy and the impact on people.
J / P — Judging or Perceiving
How you approach the outside world: planning, structure and closure, or flexibility, spontaneity and keeping options open.

Is this 16 personalities test really free?
Yes. The test and your result are completely free, and you don’t need to sign up to take it. Signing in is optional and only used to save your result to your account.
How long does the test take?
There are 20 questions, and most people finish in about 5–10 minutes. Answer with your first instinct rather than overthinking each one.
How is my personality type calculated?
Each answer adds points to one side of a pair (E/I, S/N, T/F or J/P). The side with more points on each pair becomes your letter, and we also show the percentage split so you can see how strong each preference is.
Is this the official MBTI® or 16Personalities test?
No. This is our own independent test based on the widely known four-dimension, 16-type personality model. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by The Myers-Briggs Company or NERIS Analytics (16Personalities).
How accurate is it, and can my type change?
The test describes preferences, not abilities or limits. Your answers can shift with mood, stress or life stage, so a near-even pair may flip when you retake it. Treat the result as a starting point for self-reflection, not a fixed label or a diagnosis.
What can I do after I get my type?
Read the detailed profile of your type, check your compatibility with the other 15 types (and your own), and share your result with friends to compare types.
