Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing

A counseling technique that draws out a person's inner motivation for change. It's about exploration, not persuasion.

Details

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach developed by Miller and Rollnick, focused on drawing out a client's own motivation to change.

Rather than persuading someone that they 'need to change,' it explores ambivalence and helps clients discover their own reasons for change themselves.

It's especially effective for addiction and health behavior change. Change begins from within — not from being pushed. — Mindy

💡 Real-Life Example
