Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
A therapy that intensively trains emotional regulation and interpersonal skills. It balances acceptance of who you are with the need for meaningful change.
Details
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed by Marsha Linehan to treat Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and is now widely applied to self-harm, eating disorders, and difficulties with emotional regulation.
What 'Dialectical' Means
A balance between acceptance and change: 'You are fully accepted exactly as you are. And you need to change.'
