Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)

Thematic Apperception Test

A projective test where you create stories based on pictures. Your inner needs and conflicts get projected into the stories you tell.

Details

The TAT (Thematic Apperception Test) is a projective test developed by Murray, in which a person is asked to create stories about a series of ambiguous pictures.

The themes in the stories, the emotions of the characters, and the outcomes all reflect the test-taker's inner needs, conflicts, and interpersonal relationship patterns through projection.

Because you simply make up stories freely, it feels low-pressure while providing rich psychological information. If you'd like to explore what your storytelling might reveal about you, Mindy would be happy to talk it through.

💡 Real-Life Example

For instance, looking at a picture of an ambiguous situation and saying 'This person is right now...' and building a story around it.
