Interpersonal Trauma

Interpersonal Trauma

Interpersonal trauma is trauma that is intentionally inflicted by another person.

Details

Unlike non-human traumas such as natural disasters, interpersonal trauma refers to trauma that is deliberately caused by another person.

It includes violence, abuse, sexual assault, kidnapping, and war.

The closer and more trusted the person who caused the trauma, the greater the psychological impact can be.

Trust in people becomes broken, and the world begins to feel unsafe and threatening.

Gradually rebuilding trust within a safe therapeutic relationship is at the heart of healing. Mindy is here to walk alongside you in that process.

💡 Real-Life Example

Wounds caused by another person — such as assault, sexual violence, abuse, domestic violence, or war — are all examples of interpersonal trauma.
