Erikson's Psychosocial Development

Erikson's Psychosocial Development

A theory that divides life into 8 stages, each with a specific psychological challenge that needs to be resolved.

Details

Erikson's theory of psychosocial development proposes that humans go through 8 psychosocial stages across their entire lifespan.

At each stage, we grow by experiencing a conflict between a positive and a negative outcome. Even if the challenge of a previous stage isn't fully resolved, we still move on to the next stage.

Understanding which developmental challenge you're currently facing can help you see your present struggles from a broader perspective. — Mindy

💡 Real-Life Example

"Wondering 'Who am I?' during adolescence" — This is Erikson's 5th stage: Identity vs. Role Confusion.
