Crisis Intervention

Crisis Intervention

Immediate, focused support given to someone going through an intense psychological crisis to help them regain safety and stability.

Details

Crisis intervention is a specialized approach that steps in quickly when someone is overwhelmed by a sudden, severe emotional or psychological emergency. The goal is first and foremost to make sure the person is safe, then to help them feel more grounded and connected to the support they need. It follows three core ideas: acting right away, being close and present, and keeping the help focused and practical. Whether someone is dealing with thoughts of self-harm, a sudden loss, a traumatic event, or an overwhelming wave of panic, crisis intervention meets them exactly where they are.

💡 Real-Life Example

After suddenly losing a close family member, a person in crisis received an immediate visit from a crisis counselor who checked on their safety, gave them space to express their grief, and helped connect them with ongoing support resources.
