compliance

Compliance

Going along with someone’s request, even if you do not fully agree inside.

Details

Compliance means saying yes to a request or doing what someone asks, even when there is no direct force or real inner agreement. It is different from obedience, which is more tied to authority, and different from conformity, which is more about fitting into a group. Compliance can happen in everyday life through pressure, politeness, guilt, sales tactics, or not wanting conflict. Understanding it can help you notice when you are choosing freely and when you are just giving in.

💡 Real-Life Example

A person agrees to fill out a long street survey or says yes to a favor from a friend even though they wanted to say no.
