Brain waves are the electrical rhythms your brain produces. Different patterns are linked with sleep, calmness, focus, meditation, and intense mental activity, so they can give clues about what state your mind and body are in.

During deep relaxation or meditation, alpha and theta waves may become more noticeable, while focused problem-solving is often linked with more beta activity.
