Emptiness

Emptiness

A chronic feeling of being hollow or void inside. It is commonly seen in borderline personality disorder.

Details

Emptiness is an inner feeling of being hollow, meaningless, and void.

It is one of the core symptoms of borderline personality disorder. To fill this emptiness, a person may engage in impulsive behaviors (overspending, overeating, risky actions). However, the feeling is only temporarily filled before returning, creating a vicious cycle.

Emptiness can be a signal that you have lost touch with your 'true self.' Try practicing slowly reconnecting with who you are — Mindy encourages you to take it one small step at a time.

💡 Real-Life Example

'No matter what I do, there's a persistent hollow feeling that nothing can fill' — this is chronic emptiness.
