Understanding the Mind

Superego

Superego

The part of the mind responsible for morality and conscience. It's the inner voice that says 'this is what you should do.'

Details

The superego is the part of the mind in Freudian theory that governs moral standards and ideals.

It represents the internalization of moral rules learned from parents and society. It acts as a conscience, making us feel guilt or pride depending on our actions.

An overly strict superego can lead to excessive guilt and self-criticism. Sometimes it's perfectly okay to be a little more gentle with yourself — and Mindy is here to help you find that balance.

💡 Real-Life Example

The inner voice that says 'I shouldn't lie' is your superego at work.
