Separation Anxiety
Separation Anxiety
Separation anxiety is the intense fear or distress felt when separated from a loved one. It is a normal part of development in young children.
Details
Separation anxiety is the anxiety felt when separated from — or anticipating separation from — a primary attachment figure.
In infants between 8 months and 3 years old, separation anxiety is a completely normal part of development. In fact, it is evidence that a healthy attachment bond has formed.
If excessive separation anxiety continues into adulthood, it may indicate Separation Anxiety Disorder. Mindy encourages you to speak with a professional if this feels like your experience.
💡 Real-Life Example
