Prejudice

Prejudice

Prejudice is a negative attitude or feeling toward a specific group or its members without sufficient justification.

Details

Prejudice refers to an unjust negative attitude toward a particular social group. Stereotypes (cognitive component), prejudice (emotional component), and discrimination (behavioral component) are all interconnected.

Prejudice can be learned during childhood socialization or arise from conflict between groups. There are also implicit biases we hold without realizing it, which require conscious effort to address.

Positive contact with diverse people and an open mind can help reduce prejudice. I'm Mindy, and I'm here to support you as you explore and challenge any biases you may carry.

💡 Real-Life Example

Thinking 'People from that country are all lazy' is prejudice — it's making a negative judgment about someone before even getting to know them as an individual.
