Passive Communication

Passive Communication

Passive communication is a style where you go along with others' opinions without expressing your own thoughts or feelings.

Details

Passive communication is a pattern where you hold back your needs, opinions, and feelings in order to accommodate others.

It tends to show up when you want to avoid conflict, find it hard to say no, or feel like your own opinions don't really matter.

While it can help sidestep conflict in the short term, over time it can lead to frustration, built-up resentment, and lower self-esteem.

Remember that your feelings and opinions matter too — try starting small by practicing expressing them in everyday moments. Mindy wants you to know: your voice is worth being heard.

💡 Real-Life Example

Saying 'It's fine' when something actually bothers you, or answering 'Whatever you want' when asked for your opinion — these are examples of passive communication.
