How to Practice

Loving-Kindness Meditation typically follows this sequence:

Step 1 - Yourself: "May I be happy, may I be healthy, may I be safe, may I be at ease."

Step 2 - A loved one: Send the same compassionate phrases to someone dear to you.

Step 3 - A neutral person: Extend the same wishes to someone you have no strong feelings about.

Step 4 - A difficult person: Try sending compassion even to someone you have conflict with.

Step 5 - All beings: Extend loving-kindness to every living being.
