What Is Letting Go?
Letting go is the psychological process of consciously releasing attachment to thoughts, emotions, expectations, or relationships that no longer serve you. It is nothing like indifference or giving up — it is an active, courageous choice.
What Can You Let Go Of?
Let's explore the kinds of things you can let go of, together with Mindy.
Why Is Letting Go So Hard?
We tend to feel safe with what is familiar — even when it causes us pain. Fears like 'What if things get worse once I let go?' can hold us back. But only by releasing what we're gripping tightly do we create space to welcome something new.
Ways to Practice Letting Go
One helpful approach is to focus on your breath and quietly say, 'I am letting this go.' Symbolic rituals — like writing something down and then burning or tearing up the paper — can also be meaningful. Most importantly, it's okay if you can't let go all at once. Mindy will walk alongside you as you release things little by little, at your own pace.
💡 Real-Life Example
After a relationship has ended, you find yourself repeatedly thinking 'If only I had done things differently back then...' — and then you notice that pattern, and consciously choose to redirect your focus toward your life in the present moment. That is letting go.
