Learning Disability

Learning Disability

A neurodevelopmental condition where intelligence is normal but there are significant difficulties in specific learning areas like reading, writing, or math.

Details

A learning disability is a neurodevelopmental condition in which a person shows significant difficulties in specific learning areas — reading, writing, or math — compared to their intellectual ability. It occurs due to differences in how the brain processes information, not because of lack of effort or motivation. Types include dyslexia (reading difficulty), dyscalculia (math difficulty), and dysgraphia (writing difficulty). Early identification and tailored learning support are extremely important. With the right support and alternative learning approaches, people with learning disabilities can absolutely thrive. Mindy wants you to know: a learning disability does not define your potential.

💡 Real-Life Example

Being very bright but struggling specifically with reading, or making repeated mistakes only in math calculations — these are characteristics of a learning disability.
