Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
A psychotherapy model that views the mind as containing multiple 'parts,' each with its own role, and works to help them coexist harmoniously under the leadership of the core Self.

What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?
Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz in the 1980s, Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful psychotherapy model that views the human psyche as naturally containing multiple distinct 'parts.' Like members of a family, these parts each have their own perspectives, feelings, and roles — and they sometimes conflict with one another.
The Three Types of Parts
At the center of all parts is the Self — a calm, curious, compassionate core that is never damaged by experience.
Why It Matters
IFS teaches that no part is inherently bad. Even the most destructive-seeming behavior comes from a part trying to protect you. By approaching each part with curiosity rather than judgment, healing becomes possible.
Mindy believes every voice inside you deserves to be heard with kindness. You are already whole — your parts just need a compassionate leader. 💜
💡 Real-Life Example
When someone binge-eats under stress, IFS helps them understand the 'firefighter' part trying to extinguish inner pain, and find healthier ways to meet that need.
