codependency

Codependency

A relationship pattern where caring for someone else becomes so extreme that you lose sight of your own needs.

Details

Codependency is a pattern where a person becomes overly focused on another person’s emotions, problems, or approval while neglecting their own needs, limits, and identity. It can look like rescuing, over-giving, people-pleasing, or feeling responsible for someone else’s choices. It often grows out of unstable or painful family dynamics, but it can be unlearned through boundaries, self-worth, and healthier relationships.

💡 Real-Life Example

Someone keeps covering for a partner’s harmful behavior, feels guilty for saying no, and barely notices how exhausted they have become.
