client-centered therapy
Client-Centered Therapy
A therapy approach that helps people heal through empathy, acceptance, and a trusting relationship.
Details
Client-centered therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, is based on the idea that people grow best when they feel genuinely heard, respected, and accepted. Instead of forcing advice, the therapist offers empathy, warmth, and a nonjudgmental space where the person can understand themselves more clearly. The relationship itself becomes part of the healing.
💡 Real-Life Example
A person who has long felt judged begins to open up in therapy because they finally feel accepted instead of pushed.
