Chair work
Chair Work
A therapy technique that uses one or two chairs to express unresolved feelings and explore inner conflict.
Details
Chair work is an experiential therapy technique, often used in Gestalt therapy, where you speak to an empty chair or move between two chairs to give different parts of yourself a voice. It can help with grief, anger, guilt, or mixed feelings that are hard to untangle just by talking about them. Putting feelings into words and space often makes them easier to understand and process.
💡 Real-Life Example
Someone speaks to an empty chair as if a parent were sitting there and finally says the words they could never say before.
