caregiver stress

Caregiver Stress

The emotional, physical, and mental strain that can build up while taking care of a family member or loved one.

Details

Caregiver stress is the ongoing pressure that can come from caring for someone who is sick, aging, disabled, or otherwise needs support. It can show up as fatigue, worry, irritability, sadness, poor sleep, difficulty concentrating, or feeling like there is no space left for your own life. Stress does not mean you are failing as a caregiver. It often means the situation is demanding, and you need support too.

💡 Real-Life Example

A daughter caring for her ill mother notices she is constantly tired, more anxious than usual, and no longer has time to rest or meet friends.
