Bias blind spot
Bias Blind Spot
The tendency to notice bias in other people more easily than in yourself.
Details
Bias blind spot means we are often quick to see when other people are being biased, but much slower to notice that our own thinking can be biased too. We tend to feel that our own judgments are fair and reasonable because we are experiencing them from the inside.
The problem is that bias usually does not feel like bias while it is happening. It just feels like "my honest opinion" or "common sense." That can make self-reflection harder.
Knowing about this blind spot can make us a little more humble. It reminds us that being thoughtful does not make us bias-free, and that feedback from others can matter.
💡 Real-Life Example
