Benching

Benching

Keeping someone interested without really choosing them or moving the relationship forward.

Details

Benching is when someone gives just enough attention to keep another person emotionally available, but avoids real commitment. They do not clearly end things, yet they also do not truly show up.

This can look like warm messages, random check-ins, flirting, or liking posts, while dodging plans or staying vague about the relationship. It often leaves the other person stuck in uncertainty.

If you are being benched, the confusion is not in your head. Mixed signals can wear down self-worth. A relationship should not keep you waiting forever just to feel chosen.

💡 Real-Life Example

Someone texts "I miss you" every few days but keeps canceling plans and refuses to say what they actually want.
