Beck Anxiety Inventory

Beck Anxiety Inventory

A 21-question self-report questionnaire used to measure the severity of anxiety symptoms.

Details

The Beck Anxiety Inventory, often called the BAI, is a questionnaire designed to measure how strong a person's anxiety symptoms have been recently. It asks about common signs of anxiety, especially physical symptoms such as shakiness, heart pounding, dizziness, or feeling tense.

It is often used in clinical settings, counseling, and research as a way to understand current anxiety levels and track change over time.

The BAI is a useful screening and monitoring tool, but it is not the same thing as a diagnosis by itself. It gives a structured snapshot of how anxiety may be showing up.

💡 Real-Life Example

A client fills out the 21 BAI questions before therapy sessions so they and their therapist can see whether anxiety symptoms are improving.
